9 Things You Really Need To Stop Tolerating

9 Things You Really Need To Stop Tolerating ~ http://thepowerofhappy.com/9-things-you-really-need-to-stop-tolerating/Sometimes the things in life that we deal with and put up with become so commonplace to us that we don’t even realize the impact they’re having on us. What’s worse is that many of these things take their toll on our health and wellbeing.

Sure, there definitely are things in life that are unpleasant but that we must accept. This article is not about that. This article is about the true things in life that we are meant to rise above, get rid of or stop tolerating in order to become our best selves. Here, we are talking about the things that keep you mired down in frustration and self-loathing.

If you feel less than happy and your life is less than fulfilling, evaluate whether you are tolerating any of these 9 things that you really need to move beyond.

1. A job that you hate.

So many people live a lifetime in jobs they hate. Don’t let this be you. It is important to have a good job that pays you for your work, however, if it causes you to feel sick to your stomach every Sunday night knowing that the next day is a work day, it’s time to reevaluate. This doesn’t mean you have to absolutely love your job, although that would be ideal. Rather, it means making changes if your job is something you hate.

Likewise, if you hate your job, also take a look at exactly what it is that you hate about it. Is it the commute? Coworkers? A boss? Lack of creativity? The hours? Certain clients? What have you learned from dealing with these things? Also evaluate how you yourself do the things you do within your job? Does your attitude need to change? Do your strategies and approaches need to be reevaluated and altered?

2. Holding onto Mistakes of The Past.

It’s over and if it’s still weighing you down, it is a problem. Living in the past does no good. Learn from it and move on. The only place you can really be is here right now. If you are holding onto mistakes from the past, you cannot be fully present and you certainly can’t get the most out of today. Work on being your best self right here, right now.

3. Sleep Deprivation.

If you’re constantly sleep deprived, your life is going to be less than stellar. The average person needs between 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night. Anything less than that will cause long-term health problems, not to mention a cranky attitude during the day. If you’re not getting enough sleep, you need to fix this immediately.

4. Negative Self-Talk.

Do you talk badly to yourself? Do you criticize yourself, point out your flaw to yourself or beat yourself up when you make mistakes? Do you call yourself names? If so, it’s time to stop tolerating this of yourself. Negative self-talk is so hugely detrimental to your emotional wellbeing. It’s time to start talking kindly to yourself instead. If you’re not sure exactly how to do this, here is a resource: Raising Your Vibration by Matt Kahn.

5. Toxic Relationships

Being involved in toxic relationships is one of the most self-harming things a person can do to themselves. No one is perfect, but it can become very obvious when you are in a relationship with someone that is simply not good for you. Oftentimes people remain in toxic relationships for fear of being lonely, financial reasons, insecurity and a variety of other reasons. Toxic relationships are not something you need to tolerate in your life.

6. Excessive Personal Debt

Financial debt can cause serious stress and pressure in your life. If your personal debt is mounting it is essential to get it under control. Overspending is commonplace today, but it is not something you need to do. Evaluate what you need to do to live within your means and to save more each month. If you don’t make enough money to live comfortably, brainstorm what you can do to make more money or whether your lifestyle can be pared down. Manage your money wisely and live below your means.

7. Comparing Yourself to Other People.

This one goes hand-in-hand with negative self-talk. Nothing robs you of your happiness fast than comparing yourself to other people. Remember, when you compare yourself to someone else, you are only comparing yourself to the appearance of them. Comparison is the fast track to feeling awful.

Likewise, trying to keep up with the Joneses will not bring you any greater happiness. Studies demonstrate that material possessions beyond your basic needs do not bring greater happiness and that in many cases, materialism can be a strong predictor of unhappiness.

8. Chronic Stress.

Sure, there are always times in life when it’s going to be stressful. But the question is, are you living in a state of chronic stress all the time? If so, this needs to end. Stress takes a huge toll on the body, both physically and emotionally. Adrenal fatigue is very real. Likewise, chronic stress causes you to age faster.

9. Uncomfortable Things You Use Regularly.

This includes clothes that don’t fit, shoes that give you blisters, uncomfortable chairs and beds, etc. If there are things in your life that you use regularly that make you feel uncomfortable, replace them or figure out a plan to replace them.
